Taiwan is an island 36,000 square km in size and lies 200 km from what Taiwan considers the greatest threat to its security: the People's Republic of China. There are also problems with its name, as Taiwan calls itself the: "Republic of China" while China officially calls itself "The People's Republic of China", founded in 1949 by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leader Mao Zedong.
