Cooperation, climate change and the war in Ukraine
March 2023
In the last two years, the war in Ukraine has brought NATO to the forefront of the political and defense landscape. This body is key to resolving or intervening in conflicts, as we have already seen in the case of Ukraine, but it is also key in other types of global security. Part of global security could be international terrorism, climate change, cybersecurity and disinformation. Therefore, the beginning of this 2023 will be a new year where you will have to face new challenges and opportunities of which we will explain below.
First of all, in this new year, NATO has the opportunity to continue to strengthen cooperation with its partners, either through expanded membership or by consolidating strategic alliances. More specifically, NATO could explore new ways of cooperating with key countries in regions such as Asia and Africa, with the aim of addressing transnational challenges such as terrorism and weapons proliferation.
