The Israeli defense industry
November 2023
In just 75 years since its declaration, Israel has managed to develop one of the most reliable and strongly armed forces. Its domestically designed and manufactured weapons are sold to allies, while some are developed in collaboration.
On October 7, 2023, in the early hours of Saturday, while Israelis were celebrating the holiday of Sukkot, armed militants from the terrorist organization Hamas crossed the border, one of the most secure and monitored borders, killing, and kidnapping Israeli civilians, while launching missile attacks on Israeli territory in populated areas. At that moment, the Israeli Prime Minister declared war against Hamas, (ALJAZEERA 2023), initiating a military response, named Operation Iron Swords, with bombings and incursions that has been ongoing for almost two months.
Israel, being militarily superior to Hamas and one of the most sophisticated and prepared armies in the developed world, possesses a variety of self-developed weapons that astounds the world. How is it possible that a country with fewer than 9.5 million inhabitants has become a military power and has even managed to export its developments? This is to be analyzed: three of their most powerful weapons and defensive systems, how they use them to assist the Israeli government in the current conflict, their impact on previous confrontations, and how this young country has managed to develop a true arsenal of military power.
