NATO's contribution to eradicating the pandemic

The strategy to fight COVID is the primary objective for all countries, as well as organizations such as NATO. This body, which is based on the Military Alliance of the Member Countries, has actively helped in the fight against Covid-19.

Among the actions carried out by NATO we can highlight: the 350 NATO flights to transport medical personnel, hundreds of tons of equipment delivered through the NATO strategic air transport system, the construction of 100 field hospitals, provision of 35,000 treatment beds, the help of 500,000 troops deployed throughout the Alliance and the contribution of 6,000 defense scientists.

On the other hand, we must highlight the action of the “NATO SUPPORT and Procurement Agency” from which 13 allies received their assistance. This agency is located within NATO and is the main logistics and procurement agency of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

In addition to this agency, there is the Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Center (EADRCC). This center is NATO's main civil emergency response mechanism, which in this pandemic situation has distributed 300 respirators, 10,000 liters of disinfectant, 2,000,000 protective masks to 16 member countries such as Ukraine, North Macedonia, etc.

On the other hand, NATO is taking various actions to respond to misinformation about COVID-19, identifying sources of suspicious propaganda campaigns and providing the free press with meaningful and validated information and data to counter it.

As we have seen, NATO has been very supportive throughout this pandemic. In the same way, we can see the great capacity that this body has to manage and administer crises of such caliber as is the case of Covid-19.
